Terms of settlement of the bank strike in Canton.
1. All employees of any bank with the exception of the Manager, Assistant Manager, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer shall be secured from the Bank Amployees' Association, unless the latter cannot supply any qualified man.
2. Any bank, who desires to dismiss any employee, must first notify the Bank Employees' Association of the reason. If the reason given is found unsatisfactory, the Association shall have the right to raise objection, and in this case the matter may be referred to a Board of Representatives to be appointed by the bank concerned and the Association; and if settlement still fails, it may be submitted to the
Peasants and Workmen Bureau. No strike shall take place
during an arbitration. In case any bank is wound up for loss of capital, all its employees shall be given one month's notice and one month's extra pay. If any bank suddenly
stops business, 2 months' extra pay shall be given to the employees.
3. In case any member of the Bank Employees' Association
in the service of any bank, is wounded in execution of his
duty, the bank shall afford him medical treatment until he
is recovered. If he is crippled on account of the wound,
and is no longer fit for work, the bank shall grant him a
gratuity of $2,000, and if he dies for it, $5,000. If any employee falls ill (unless he suffering from consumption,
syphilis or lunacy) the bank shall give him free medical
attendance by appointed doctors, but the employee shall pay
for the medicine. During illness all employees shall be
entitled to wages and provisions, so far the duration does
not exceed 2 months.
